Made it back here... last time was around 1982, and my great-grandfather was there. Gotta find the pic of him, looking at the plane. Imagine being 18, during WWI, and flying again in WWII.
Not bad, for a memorial. My daughter (6 yrs old) got her Junior Ranger badge. I’m so glad we got a chance to be there.
They did a really, really good job making this thing. Hope it lasts another hundred years.
Phtotos were a little screwy; used a polarizing filter for the first time, and the wide angles don’t like it.
I ran into the museum with about 5 minutes to take a couple pictures while the kiddos were close to meltdown.
All in all, I’m really glad I got a chance to see it, and be there for the first time in a couple decades.

Nice! I love the outer banks so much I Incorporated the wright brothers memorial into my most recent tattoo. We were there last summer around this time but the museum wasn't finished yet

It’s a great place. Quiet.
I’m listening to the audio book ofDavid McCullugh’s book on the Wrights during my drive this week. It’s prett great.

I’ll have to check that out, thanks for the rec!
It was pretty quiet, except for the wind, and the paraglider guy who flew over it when we first arrived. And the six-year-old who threw a short fit, because she decided she’d worn the wrong shoes.
